Digital Magazine Distribution - Afar Travel Magazine

Afar magazine was started in 2009 as a non-profit foundation providing scholarships for education and has seven publications a year. Afar media is not part of any other companies and therefor doesn't have any outreaching sources of media to advertise on such as websites and tv stations, however they do have social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, and Instagram. This is the magazine that I would most closely relate my magazine to as I would use the same practices as them to advertise my magazine as I to have no extra media sources to advertise across.

Digital Magazine Distribution - National Geographic Traveler

National Geographic is an American pay television network and flagship channel that is owned by National Geographic Partners, a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and the National Geographic Society, with the operational management handled by Walt Disney Television. National Geographic Travel is an even smaller part of this large conglomeration of companies that has been published since 1984 and publishes 8 issues per year. As it is handled and controlled by multiple larger partners, it can be advertised across varied sources of media and across a wide and varied viewer base. It has been published in many nations across the world including  Armenia, Belgium/the Netherlands, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Latin America, Israel, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, as well as the UK and US. National Geographic Traveler also has social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. I would most likely incorporate the use of social m...

Digital Magazine Distribution - Travel + Leisure

One of the larger travel magazine publications is the brand Travel + Leisure, with twelve publications a year and an average of 4.8 million yearly subscribers, this publication has a fairly grand reputation. This magazine is closely related to what I am creating as it covers many different locations and their various attractions and has a similar target audience to me. This publication is part of a larger corporation known as Meredith Corporation, which has many subsidiaries such as magazines, television stations, websites and radio stations, all of which can be used in order to advertise for their magazine, the website being the most likely used source of advertisement. The magazine also has many social media accounts across Facebook, pintrest, twitter, and Instagram, all of which can also be used for advertisement. I would likely incorporate the use of social media accounts or advertisement as I don't have access to personally owned websites, TV shows or radio stations.

Title Cover Revision Number 1

There are still changes to be made to this cover and the design and style of it may change as I revise and change my other pages. The resolution of the image is a problem that I still need to fix as it becomes very pixilated when I fit the image to the page but as of now this is definitely an improvement over my last title page. I'm still not proficient at using the indesign program so I feel as though it will improve the things I make as I become more experienced with the program.

Distribution Research

Most magaines follow a trend for ways in which they are advertised and distrubuted. Most magazine companies are parts of larger organizations and therefor use those outlets to advertise their products. An example of this would be if the same company had many different types of magazines corresponding to different catagories-travel, beauty, gossip, food, and many others- and would use those publications to put in advertisements for the other genres which that company produces, a travel magazine may have some ad space taken up for food or news magazines that are produced by that same company. Most of these companies also own websites that they could use in the same way, with banner ads across the top or on the sides promoting their own publications. Even larger companies and conglomerates may use other media outlets such as TV shows or movies to advertise for their magazines, although this is less common. Typically, these magazines are sent out and distributed to many different kinds of ...

Marketing Plan

Most forms of media advertise their product through other branches of their parent company, companies such as Disney market many of their movies through advertisements on ESPN as well as other TV stations, etc. But I don't own any other companies so I wont be able to market my product this way. I would mostly advertise through digital media such as wide spread emails, social media-possible creating accounts on platforms such as Instagram and twitter and advertising through that-as well as side bar or banner ads on websites in order to publicize the magazine. As this is presumably as small/start up company, I wont have much expendable money for advertisements so I'll have to advertise on smaller websites in order to first gain a base of regular buyers. Examples of banner ad sizes and layouts are displayed in the picture included.
