Distribution Research

Most magaines follow a trend for ways in which they are advertised and distrubuted. Most magazine companies are parts of larger organizations and therefor use those outlets to advertise their products. An example of this would be if the same company had many different types of magazines corresponding to different catagories-travel, beauty, gossip, food, and many others- and would use those publications to put in advertisements for the other genres which that company produces, a travel magazine may have some ad space taken up for food or news magazines that are produced by that same company. Most of these companies also own websites that they could use in the same way, with banner ads across the top or on the sides promoting their own publications. Even larger companies and conglomerates may use other media outlets such as TV shows or movies to advertise for their magazines, although this is less common. Typically, these magazines are sent out and distributed to many different kinds of consumers thorugh various means. Subscribers to a certain oublication may recieve a digital or hard copy of a magazine, the digital copy being sent thorugh email or some other way, and the hard copies being directly mailed to all of the different consumers. These magazines are also typically sent to stores and offices in order to have people that arn't part of the subscriber base to see and purchase. Many doctors recieve these publications to put in the waiting rooms as entertainment for patients and those patiens may then decide to continue to purchase this magazine for themselves, growing the subscription base. Magazines sent to stores, gas stations, and other such places are used to the same effect as consumers may decide to pick up a copy of one of these publications and either continue to purchase at the store of subscribe directly to the magazine company.

Audience Engagement Research - Travel Magazine Guide to Greece

This magazine is also a travel/destination type magazine and would therefor have a similar target audience to mine, most likely those in the age groups of 25-35 and 50-65 as they have been the age groups shown to travel the most. They most likely marketed their product through the use of social media, spreading ads throughout platforms such as Facebook and twitter, as well as selling products to grocery and convenience stores for people to see and buy. Id probably try to advertise my product through social media platforms similarly to this magazine.

Digital Magazine Distribution - National Geographic Traveler

National Geographic is an American pay television network and flagship channel that is owned by National Geographic Partners, a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and the National Geographic Society, with the operational management handled by Walt Disney Television. National Geographic Travel is an even smaller part of this large conglomeration of companies that has been published since 1984 and publishes 8 issues per year. As it is handled and controlled by multiple larger partners, it can be advertised across varied sources of media and across a wide and varied viewer base. It has been published in many nations across the world including  Armenia, Belgium/the Netherlands, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Latin America, Israel, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, as well as the UK and US. National Geographic Traveler also has social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. I would most likely incorporate the use of social m...
