Another variation of travel magazines is a destination magazine. Its very similar in nature as a normal travel magazine, but the key difference being that while a normal travel magazine tends to jump from place to place, highlighting key aspects of a location and giving a short review, a destination magazine focuses on one location and describes various attractions, places to stay, in depth descriptions on the area, sightseeing areas, food and good food locations, etc. The cover page of these magazines is typically an areal shot of an attraction, or of the city, or beach, or whatever else deemed fit, the magazine that I looked at was a wide/long shot that showed off a beach along with an amusement park and the sunset in the background. The title and other text, as with most other magazines, is put towards the top and out of the center as to provide as much space as possible to show off the picture. Travel magazine brands sometimes branch out and show off different aspects of locations that aren't strictly about the location or attractions of such locations, when these brands branch out sometimes they will dedicate the topic to topics such as food. Food and travel magazines are lesser known but very similar in nature to the typical travel magazine, differing only in the fact that it highlights the different kinds of foods found in either one or multiple locations. The cover of these magazines tend to show off a food item while also showing a picture of the location being covered. The magazine I looked at, added on here, places focus on the dishes placed in the center along with the beach background, again putting the title and other cover information mostly to the side and out of focus. Most travel magazines tend to have a cover layout which features a photo of the area or feature of an area that the magazine feels is the most important to feature. The title and any other information featured on the cover tends to be places above, below, or to the side of the center of the picture as the magazine covers purpose is to draw attention to the view or whatever is being presented. Typically the photo and font colors are bright and pop off the page to grab the attention of those who glance at it, the colors of the font also tend to mirror the colors in the photo. Most of the time, there will be a table of contents on the first few pages that details where to find information on certain topics and what information will be where. Most, if not all, video game magazines tend to lend much of the cover space to a game or character(s) from that game, similar in style to most other types of magazines. The title of the magazine and other information on the front is typically put out of the center of attention and sometimes partly see through so as to give and focus as much attention on the image on the cover which is also typically drawn or framed in such a way that it makes the reader want to know more without giving away to much or too little. The colors used on the cover are almost always a similar or matching color to the scene and characters presented, along with matching up with the genre and style of the game. A magazine advertising the best horror game of the year may present the main character searching through the house or environment of the game with a dark color pallet, most likely composed of black, dark maroon, navy blue, or whatever dark colors match the game, while a magazine advertising a family game ...

The cover layout of a food magazine tends to have a large picture of a food dish taking up most of the surface area with text and other information bordering the food, shifting much of the focus onto the food rather than the text surrounding it. The colors for the background and text are typically colors that complement the look of the food, so a food dish with say red and dark red coloring like a cranberry dish on a thanksgiving magazine, would have slightly darker and most likely red and black color pallets for the coloring of the background and text; using contrasting colors for the cover such as a neon green color for something like a sirloin steak could be off putting and make the look of the food portrayed less appealing. From the magazine that I've looked through, it appears that advertisements take up about 60-75 percent of the total space with either whole pages dedicated to them, or small ads that are put in the corners of the pages; much of the ads come in between the pa...

I have chosen to do the magazine project over the film. I decided this due to many, many factors that personally make the magazine a better fit for me than the film. One of the biggest deciding factors was the fact that the film project involves more group work and trying to find people to be in the group. Not to mention, whenever I work in a group of people, I tend to slack off, mess around, and tend not to get my work done the best I could. I also don't have many of the skills required for the film project such editing, acting and whatever else needed. I plan to work alone for reasons outlined above, and while working in a group for the magazine still calls for everyone to work individually and turn in a separate magazine, there are still issues working in a group such as deciding on what kind of magazine to do and other such things that would make working alone a much simpler task.
