Magazine Genre Research - Travel

Another variation of travel magazines is a destination magazine. Its very similar in nature as a normal travel magazine, but the key difference being that while a normal travel magazine tends to jump from place to place, highlighting key aspects of a location and giving a short review, a destination magazine focuses on one location and describes various attractions, places to stay, in depth descriptions on the area, sightseeing areas, food and good food locations, etc. The cover page of these magazines is typically an areal shot of an attraction, or of the city, or beach, or whatever else deemed fit, the magazine that I looked at was a wide/long shot that showed off a beach along with an amusement park and the sunset in the background. The title and other text, as with most other magazines, is put towards the top and out of the center as to provide as much space as possible to show off the picture. All of the information inside was showing off San Francisco and the attractions surrounding it, as that was the location being shown off in this magazine. It had typical magazine ads ranging from the typical beauty products to car insurance. There were a few ads targeted for this area such as local restaurants, tour buses, etc. Pretty much all of the photos were there to show off the locations being talked about and were taken on location showing off events that happen there or simply showing off the scenery.

Audience Engagement Research - Travel Magazine Guide to Greece

They most likely marketed their product through the use of social media, spreading ads throughout platforms such as Facebook and twitter, as well as selling products to grocery and convenience stores for people to see and buy. Id probably try to advertise my product through social media platforms similarly to this magazine.

Digital Magazine Distribution - National Geographic Traveler

National Geographic is an American pay television network and flagship channel that is owned by National Geographic Partners, a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and the National Geographic Society, with the operational management handled by Walt Disney Television. National Geographic Travel is an even smaller part of this large conglomeration of companies that has been published since 1984 and publishes 8 issues per year. As it is handled and controlled by multiple larger partners, it can be advertised across varied sources of media and across a wide and varied viewer base. It has been published in many nations across the world including  Armenia, Belgium/the Netherlands, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Latin America, Israel, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, as well as the UK and US. National Geographic Traveler also has social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. I would most likely incorporate the use of social m...
